Hello :D

Everything is new and unfamiliar, but I’m a rookie planner growing step by step. This is my first job and my first company! Let me show you the journey of a newcomer learning things one by one. (Honestly, I still have a long way to go and a lot to learn.)

D+7. Aspiring to Be Top of the Class

I’ve gone through various On-the-Job Training (OJT) sessions, from company orientation to manuals and basic training for new employees. As this is my first job, I was filled with worry and anxiety, but I could feel that everyone was considerate of my situation. They explained everything in great detail!

However, despite their thorough explanations, it was still challenging to grasp everything at once. Haha… I realized my understanding of my role was still lacking, which ignited my passion to study more.

UX Planning, PM, Agency, Rookie Planner ··· 🔍

To improve my understanding of the job, I started searching across various platforms. Not only did I focus on the tasks but also on new terms I encountered during training and meetings. I made notes of these terms and looked them up later.

During this process, I mainly used Brunch and Surfit. These platforms contain numerous stories and experiences from professionals in the field, and they explained practical matters in an engaging way, making it easier to understand!

At first, I wrote everything by hand in a small notebook. However, as the content grew, it became difficult to read and find what I needed.

D+30. What? It’s Already Been a Month?

Yes, that's right. Time flew by as I was busy studying, and now I’ve received my first paycheck. I felt proud and happy, but I was also anxious and worried since I hadn’t yet been assigned to a project. During this period, though, I had a few opportunities to gain some practical experience. I got to work on the publishing review and writing the integration test scenarios for a project that had been ongoing since before I joined. Although I constantly questioned if I was doing things right, the project team members were incredibly helpful, patiently explaining any questions I had and providing feedback on my work. They were truly the best! Ideally, it would be nice to work on a project from start to finish, but experiencing the later stages of the process before being assigned to a new project was actually more beneficial for me. (Yes, that’s right! I’m about to be assigned to a project soon.)

D+60. Finally, Project Assignment!

I finally got the opportunity to put my studies and knowledge into practice! I’ve been assigned to a renewal project for an e-commerce shopping mall!! 👏👏👏 My role is Project Assistant, or PA, and I’ll be responsible for designing the front-end screens. Thanks to my prior experience with publishing review and integration testing, I had a better understanding of how deliverables should be produced and what kind of errors might occur. This experience greatly helped me in designing the screens with a broader perspective. The knowledge I accumulated from my studies also played a crucial role. It helped me understand the meetings better and made communication a bit smoother for me. Of course, I still have a lot to learn and the project is just beginning, so there’s a long way to go.
