For the 18th anniversary celebration, all employees gathered to watch the musical
"<THE MAN WHO LAUGHS>!

On August 19, 2022, our company celebrates its 18th anniversary since its founding. "A company where employees enjoy working" is of utmost importance to CEO Hankyung Seop, who has devoted much passion and effort to planning various internal events, both big and small, since the Big Event marathon hosted by a major corporation in 2004 to the leather craft experience in 2019, fostering communication and creating cherished memories with employees.

However, since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, many aspects of our daily lives have changed, and though the situation remains uncertain, we have decided to cautiously reintroduce a variety of distinctive activities, starting with a refreshing company-wide outing to watch a musical together.

In the past, we have organized and enjoyed several performances such as "The Lion King," "Man of La Mancha," "Chicago," "Nanta," and the play "The Interview" as internal events. However, securing tickets for this event was not easy, as most performances were either unavailable or did not allow group bookings due to the ongoing pandemic. Fortunately, we managed to secure tickets for the musical "," which is available for a performance on our anniversary day.

・ Sejong Center for the Performing Arts Grand Theater

We gathered at the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts Grand Theater on the event day, starting from 11:45 AM. Prior to the show, we enjoyed a leisurely stroll and meal at the newly renovated Gwanghwamun Square, freely moving around according to our respective business departments. Then, we assembled at the theater, received our tickets, and confirmed our seat assignments before the show started at 2:30 PM.

"The paradise of the rich is built on the hell of the poor."

The musical "The Man Who Laughs" tells the story of Gwynplaine, who, in 17th-century England, is disfigured by the cruel Comprachicos gang, leaving him with a grotesque smile, and his dream of a better world. The production, with a staggering budget of 175 billion won, presented a grand and dazzling stage, accompanied by heartfelt performances and singing from the cast. Despite its three-hour duration, including intermission, the show was so captivating that time seemed to pass swiftly, leaving a lasting impression on all of us.

In conclusion...

After the musical performance, we gathered at a traditional Korean chicken soup restaurant in Bukchon, a famous spot, to refresh ourselves with a hearty meal and bid farewell to the lingering heat of this summer's end. It was a meaningful and enjoyable time as it had been a while since all the employees gathered for a meal together.

Then came the highlight of our founding anniversary event – the presentation of gold medals to our long-serving employees, who have been with us through thick and thin. With gratitude, we prepared and presented them with gold in recognition of their years of service. I wonder if they were expecting it? Some even delivered witty remarks akin to those of celebrities at year-end award ceremonies, bringing laughter to the occasion.

And thus, our formal founding anniversary event came to a modest close, followed by informal gatherings in different settings. Rumor has it that our next gathering will be an autumn workshop. Stay tuned for more updates and let's look forward to it together!
